About the "Low Memory" Indicator

What it means when the keyboard shows "Low memory" or your image templates are not displayed.

What is happening?

When your device is running low on memory, the PasteSync keyboard temporarily skips rendering images (thumbnails) to keep working reliably. When this happens, it shows "Low memory".

Even in this state, you can still browse and paste your templates as usual. Only the image previews are hidden β€” no functionality is lost.

Why does it happen?

Keyboards (extensions) are allowed far less memory than the main app. And even images with small file sizes can use much more memory than expected once they are decoded for display.

Because of this, opening an image-heavy board for the first time can temporarily run out of memory while loading multiple images at once. Once a board has been opened, its cache kicks in and subsequent visits are much lighter.

How to fix images not showing up

  1. Switch keyboards and switch back (most effective)
Use the globe button 🌐 to switch to another keyboard, then switch back to PasteSync. This reloads the keyboard, and images usually appear.
  2. Open the same board again
Images are cached after the first load, so they are more likely to appear the second time.
  3. Restart your device
This refreshes memory and can resolve the issue.
  4. (On low-memory devices) Close heavy apps you are not using
Closing games, the camera, or browsers with many open tabs frees up memory across the device.
